Well I didn't get too many pictures of the picnic crowd, but others seem to have that pretty well covered. I did manage to get one of Mark's good side.

My boys wanted to hike up the mountain and find something cool.

I think we did OK. After his trek down the mountain and him trying to bite several picnic goers, he posed very nicely for us. (Sorry Diego, you drove off right before I got back with him)

Since we were already out in the area, we decided to stick around to cruise SVP. After killing off a couple of hours shopping I was skeptical about how well this would go as the dust storm rolled through. As it got dark though is calmed down and it turned out to be a pretty productive night. The traffic on SVP was a little heavier than last year, but not too bad. We found 23 snakes total. The breakdown went like this.

1 DOR Coachwhip
1 DOR Patchnose
3 AOR 3 DOR Atrox
1 DOR Mojave
4 AOR 3 DOR Sidewinders
5 AOR Shovelnose
1 AOR 1 DOR Longnose

This sidewinder was actually from Friday night, but I wanted to try and get some good pics and he will be released tonight.

Way to go Mike on cathing an elusive chuck. That camera takes some great macro pics. It was nice meeting you too and now I'm kicking myself for not road crusing the backroads back to SW AZ.

I didn't know you had it in ya! First the nice redback chuck, who posed so nicely for so many, and then the snakes on the road at night. Tell me, did you let the wife ride along? Great shots!!:hi

BTW, very nice series on the three Chionactis.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Chris, yes you shold have. I think that front moving through actually got them moving. Jerry, of course I gave her the privilege of coming along. Although if you ask her it might sound more like I drug her along against her will. :)

Beautiful Chuck! Thought about cruising SVP last nite too but was waiting for rain that never came. Looks like I should have gone anyhow. Great pics!

Mike, excellent photos all around! I really love the two closeups of the Chuck! I sure would love to take one home for an education animal - if I had the room! LOL (I would put it in a display cage next to the Gila and show people how very different they really are!)

Thanks. If it had been legal, I think this guy would have come home with me; He had lots of personality. You could alwas just sick the Gila next to a "baby Gila" for comparison. :D
