reposting this invite from Marci Welton:
Dear Mark:
On behalf of the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University, I would like to invite members of the AHA to participate at our upcoming "SoLS Takes a Hike" event. This is an annual community outreach program, which includes guided hikes and biological experts for short talks.

Saturday, April 7 from 9 a.m. until noon

This year’s hike organizers Pierre Deviche (blocked::http://sols.asu.edu/faculty/pdeviche.php), a birding expert, and Susanne Neuer (blocked::http://sols.asu.edu/faculty/sneuer.php), an oceanographer, will just be two of more than a dozen ecologists, geologists and field biologists, who lead four short nature walks looping through the park. Besides these guided tours for families, reptile expert Andy Holycross (blocked::http://sols.asu.edu/faculty/aholycross.php) will attend with his snakes, to talk about snake safety, as well as their beauty. Holycross is the coauthor of “A Field Guide to Amphibians and Reptiles in Arizona,” with co-author Thomas Brennan, recently released by Arizona Game and Fish.

This event is entirely FREE, and families are welcome. We want to inspire future scientists, by encouraging them to enjoy the outdoors. It's the perfect time for young and old to ask questions about our local environment and ecology that you always wanted to know.

If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact Peggy Coulombe, (480)727-8934, margaret.coulombe@asu.edu (blocked::mailto:margaret.coulombe@asu.edu), or myself, event organizers.

Please share this information,

From Marci:
The hikes are in Tres Rios Wetlands, off 91st Ave. There will be a sign for Tres Rios on the road, just after the water treatment plant, that directs you down a gravel road to the parking area. The park entrance is right there. I hope that you can join us!

Just south of the plant, you can see the gravel road that leads back to the two kidney bean shaped areas. That's Tres Rios.
