As I was scrolling down I got through 4 pages without seeing my ugly mug and then Whammo!!! I thought I was going to get off easy there.
At least I wasn't getting "real" close to the rattlesnakes or anything. ;)

To those that don't know me that well, please don't feel there is ever a need to get that close for good photos. The camera is large enough to deter a bite but that does not mean it's not possible.

at least it was only the photograph that went "Whammo" and it's a good thing that the snake didn't go down that hole it was trying to get to right after the photo session.

I got my photo of the same snake from about 3 - 3.5 ft away, and I could crop it to get almost as decent of a photo if I really wanted to, though the tiny details wouldn't be as noticable in my photo. I don't think I will ever get my hands that close to a buzztail, and will leave it to you guys that are more able to read the snake's intentions, though that's still no guarantee it won't zap you someday. I hope not. A bite to your hand would leave a lot of people a bit bent out of shape, so to speak. (ahem) :whistle2:
