There is a new field in the User Control panel called "Real Name". This is a voluntary request at this time for your real name to scrub against the current AHA membership list for up-to-date members. This will allow access to the AHA member forum(s) when we enable them. It is now a required field for new forum members and will be a requirement for all members in the future. The good news is that the Real Name fields are not viewable by the public - only to administrators and moderators (if you wanted your real name showing instead of a log on name you would have chosen it that way, right?). Your support and patience is appreciated.

Just tried that and it will not allow me to update my profile without entering my birth date.

Bill, I can see the real name field when I view the other members' profiles by clicking on their names.

So names will be visable for a while longer. That's why it's voluntary at this point. We are working towards improving these forums. Sometimes these things take a little more time than we would like, but we are moving in the right direction.
As far a date of birth - it will be required because everyone in these forums should be 13 years or older to comply with COPPA rules regarding the internet. Requiring a qualifying birth date is a lot easier to administer than requiring everyone to fill out an online COPPA agreement when they regisiter.

Thanks for the feedback and feel free to PM either myself, any of the moderators, and/or board members with anything else you would like to see on these forums.
