My son is going to be learning about Mendel's Punnett Square and alleles in science this year, so I was thinking about tying this into a presentation on snakes, how breeders get the cool varieties of snakes by combining different subspecies, based on their Punnett square configuration, and also what a specific animal was het for (also, what is Het short for?)

I would love to have as much info as I can get from as many sources as I can so I can figure it all out before I go volunteering that I can give this presentation. As I only have 6 snakes, I can't get too in depth (plus, it's only 8th grade science) I want to do it right if I am going to do it at all.
Thank you all in advance. You can e-mail me direct at katwoman0719@cox.net. I appreciate it very much!

for heterozygous. Thus, when some animal is "het" for blue toes but does not have them, it means that one of the parents had blue toes. "Het," you will notice, always refers to a particulair trait.

:) For all it's worth, Dr. Wright might be a good source to brain-pick. He had an article in the Arizona Republic. Good luck with your enterprise. You may find many other articles and sites all over the net, you can milk for information
