I just got my newsletter today and all I have to say is, well done. Has the club considered having the option to have the newsletter delivered electronically, rather than snail mail? I think it would save the club in printing costs and postage, plus maybe save a few trees. ;) I don't know how much support there might be for this, but I know I'd sign up for electronic only copy if it were available. What do ya think?

That would be a good idea, but i know a couple people in the club that don't have a computer.

I'm not suggesting only having an electronic newsletter, but allow people to chose whether to have it either in electronic form or paper. Even if only a quarter of the club chooses electronic, that is still a few bucks that can go toward something else.

Mike, I would be happy to send out electronic copies of the N/L, I just need everyone's email addy who wants email. if you want to stop receiving the paper copy, I will also need your first and last name so I can have Jerry take you off his mailing list.

PS: the N/L is done in MS Word, so you'll have to have that on your computer to read it.

hey, i have an idea. although it may require a 'little' extra work, but how about doing the electronic newsletter in html? and for those who cannot read html email, they could just save it to their computer and open the file in their web browser.

just a thought.

The newsletter could be converted to HTML and put on the site. :) However some might not like the idea of non members having access.

actually, i was just refering to composing it in html and emailing it to members only. NOT posting on the site. you can view any html file from your computer in any web browser. it does not have to be online.

sorry kids, I know two things about HTML and computers. the first one is "jack" ... I'll let you guess the second one...

Unfortunately I have neither the time nor the technological apptitude to learn right now. For now it is MS WORD.

MS Word allows you to save in HTML format. I cant remember if Word 97 does, but Word 2000, XP and 2003 do. Another option is PDF format.(Adobe Acrobat) I think there are some freeware (open source) PDF generators out there.

if you would like, You could send it to me and I could send it back to you in HTML format.

although you can save word documants as 'web'documents, you wouldn't get the full web effect unless it contained html coding, which it sounds like brandi can't do. i don't really seen anything wrong with sending it out as a .doc file, except for the fact that not everyone may have word on their computer.

you can also save as a pdf in quark. how big is the printed newsletter? i'm a little surprised you're not doing it in quark instead of word. but hey, whatever gets the job done!

Converting to HTML seems like a good choice and I'm sure there are several people who can and will convert it every month.

I'd be happy to help also if I'm needed. Seeing as I have no life, I have the time. LOL

how about a members only section on the site where we could post the newsletter and archieve it so members could look back at older newsletters. Also would be good for posting election discusions or whatever might come up that would involve members only??

Just a thought:Think

The new forums will have the capability to have a members only forum.
Stay tuned....

okay, so here's the deal:

I will wait until the rennovations to the website go through. If we make up a useable "members only " area, the N/L will be posted there. I will have to have Bill or somebody HTML code it and post it for me.

I really appreciate the ideas guys, I'm just trying to keep things as simple as possible, for myself and for the club members.

Thanks again,
B~
