When ball pythons are born do they usually have a stripe that covers 1/6 of their body starting at the head? I was at a pet store and they had about 3 with a stripe 1/6 and one that was 1/4, and was wondering if they were possibly het for something. Any help would be appreciated.

Heh. That gets a lot of people. The stripes are due to stess on the egg while in incubation (fluctuation of temperatures). They are all likely to be normal. Anything in the pet stores has already been looked at probably 5 or 6 different times, maybe more, before hitting the shelves. Sometimes things slip through, but most likely not. This is shayla (we bought her because she was high yellow and she should have already lost it; oh well, just an outstanding normal). 8 months ago she weighed 77 grams and now she weighs about 1600.

All of them are normal except for the previous one. All different, maybe quite to a large extent, but all normals the same.
