the wife decided to take a Sunday afternoon nap. I just couldn't resist sneaking out for a peek at the neiborhood kids. This is the view as I first came up to site #1

the one just visable on the right is a nice male. These snakes are all very light in color as the rock temps were over 110F. Normally they are darker. Here is a closer shot of the male.

you can tell ther is another snake that was a part of this mess. Not quite sure what was going on in here but there are at least two males and two females.

how you can see one cerb, then during the course of photographing it look over and see another, and then over there is another, and then one is right next to you foot. I looked down and saw this little girl down in a hole.

Were these beauties found up in Flagstaff?
I'm getting married on July 3rd and the wife and I will be living up there (been living in Prescott for the past 20 years), and I don't think I can go on living without finding snakes in the wild, but I don't know of any good spots up there. You think it would be okay to get ahold of you once I'm up there to get some pointers? We'll be living in the teeny tiny apartments at married housing in NAU, so I'm sure it'll be great to get out every now and then.
Wonderful pics - cerbs are one of my favorites!

Dennis,
Get ahold of me when ya get here and may be we can do some road cruisin or general herping somewhere. I have to tell ya though, I tend to be very protective about the local rattlesnakes and their dens and I don't show or tell anybody anything that might give away locations. There is just too much potential for disaster, which I am sure you can understand. I have heard a couple of Prescott densites have been lost in the last decade, one to skin hunters and one to a couple of out of state comercial collectors. My wife just recently pointed out that in 15 years SHE has never seen a densite, LOL! A little further down the road once I know somebone is alright and won't divulge info I am not opposed to going out to look for new densites somewhere other than Flagstaff. Look forward to meeting you and congratulations on your gettin' hitched!

Rich,
I completely understand your caution, and I appreciate your commitment to protecting the densite. No problem at all - I would do the same :). I'm not looking for a densite, just areas where I can find and photograph some herps. I'd love to do some road cruising and get to know the area sometime. I've got a while until we move up there, but I'll be sure to get ahold of you sometime when we do. Thanks for your friendliness and your willingness to show me around! Look forward to meeting you as well!
Dennis
