More Crotalus pics.......

Headed out Fri afternoon, moving kind of slowly as I had worked the night before and was going on my 25th hour. Conditions were about the same as last weekend, 64F and windy. I decided to visit known snakes just to start getting an idea of activity and basking patterns. Female #1 from last week was in her same spot. This time I could tell she was gravid.

but she was nowhere to be found. Worked my around seeing no other snakes till I got to female #3.

about this big creature getting in her face so I decided to use the opportunity to practice with the camera.

and put the camera about 4 inches from her face and she never budged. Needless to say I kept my fingers well behind the camera:) She is around twenty inches long for the record.

little one basking. It was very wary and didn't allow me to approach too closely before it zipped back into the burrow.

I spent the morning exploring a new area but didn't find anything other than the usual assortment of lizards. In teh afternoon I went back to check on the previous days snakes finding them all in the same places. I took one last pic of female #1 before heading home.
