I've been out in the field a few times this week about 1 hour before sunset, and haven't seen much of anything. Am I going at the wrong time, wrong place, or just looking under the wrong bushes?

What time of day is best, or what outside ambient temp is best for the most activity?
Thanks

geez, pretty much any time right now, mid morning and late afternoon are producing lots of lizards and atrox for me right now.

go do yourself a huge favor - nip over to Barnes and Noble and pick up a copy of Peterson's Field Guide To Western Reptiles and Amphibians. And read it. don't just look at the pictures... go in there and look at the natural history info on the spp you want to find. There is a surprising amount you can learn from these very concise little guides. Not everything is 100% accurate, but its a great start, and you'll find all kinds of info about where and when to look for different species. Good luck hun.

Just about all day long. And can be found just about all night long in the right areas.

Stebbin's field guide to western reptiles and amphibians and the Arizona gazetteer. Find a good weather website also. Kenny S>
