My wife and I went looking for Geckos last night on the road, i found one jumped out to grab it, only with a Sidewinder in pursuit of it also. not 5 minutes later further down the road, another Sidewinder in the road, i used my mini hook to move it off the road, i thought she was dead, it didnt even move until i set it down. Road temp was about 78 degrees at 855pm. I also found some Coral food a couple Night Snakes, as i called it a night, i went down a little dirt road, just to see where it led to, and came to a abandoned building, and we got out to poke around. More Sidewinders!!!! 3 of them all within 5 feet, 2 males and a female in front. Needless to say we weren't to anxious to poke around to much with one dim flashlight. Well i came home with a couple feeders for my Coral, a few geckos for my baby Coachwhip, and some Krats for a picky eater.
This morning we decided to go out early and do some flipping for lizards. Headed out on the same road at about 825am, and 2 more Sidewinders in the same general area stretched out on the road. I moved one off the road, no problem. The second one whoooo, had a wild hair, he was a real fire cracker! He was striking so eratically he was flipping upside down, he was striking at my hook, striking at the air, i couldnt even hook him. It was great. I couldn't even pin him without him rolling his body. He would have been a fun snake to keep, but im only looking for 3 snakes. So im not looking to collect. The meanest Sidewinder ive ever ran across. Only other snakes ive seen out there is a Coral, 1 healthy Atrox, Longnose, and a pack of Javelina that darted out in front of me, and i was unfortunate enough to lodge one under neath my truck. and i had to hit bumps, and jumps to get it out!! I wasn't reaching under there!

I am trying to get a good sidewinder picture, usually I find them in sand/gravel and do not stand out well. Went on a sidewinder rescue today, but it was a WDB instead.
Keep you pictures and adventures coming..

They are a extremly common, i usually would see maybe 1 or so a night, but conditions must be extremly in their favor. Krats and Lizards have been abundant, i know when i see a bunch of Krats it will usually be a good night. Im getting good at swerving and hitting them things!

Usually they stay pretty uniform, but if you squish one too much, then you have one thats good for scenting.

I went out a little bit ago, and found a pair doing the deed!!! I love watching one of my favorite crotes in their natural habitat.

"I went out a little bit ago, and found a pair doing the deed!!! " And it wasn't in a drive in movie? You should be ashamed of yourself!
