'Rock Iguanas' are some of my favorite AZ wildlife. I am totally happy with seing these guys, just way to cool. I am foremost a snake enthusiast, but these guys are sure cooler than most snakes in my book. When I was a student at the Phoenix Job Corp, they would take us around to places for those that resided there. One place we would go at times was South Mountain. All the other kids wanted to hang out at the movies or what not, I just wanted to see chucks!

Disclaimer: Do not touch the chucks on South Mountain, they be protected.

Sure we all love to spot the slithering serpents as we hike around, but its always fun to find the big guys hiding below. Found this one right off the ground. I try to stay away from the people and the park atmosphere if I can

That is super cool! Does anyone ever seen young chuckwalla's out and about? Any idea what time of year would be best to hunt for youngin's?

I'd love to have a chuck or two, I've not been out looking yet for fear I'll run into something scary... snakes. :)

Same chuck, the only ones I have seen are wedged in rocks.

If you want to see some chucks not in rocks, go hike up Camelback.
