For the out of state people. The houses that are built on the desert foothills get lots of snakes. After all the homes were built where the snakes live

Mean looking snake.
ya, its funny when people move out to the desert and are:stormy when they have rattlers on the porch, coyotes eating little fluffy, and javalinas(sp) tromping through there flowers, coons in there garbage cans, etc

Most of the people have no idea that snakes will be coming in on their property when they move in this area. Last summer after taking a larged diamondback from a back yard, a young lady that had just moved in from Chicago said she was moving out....

will we ever quit raping the desert to build houses for these losers? probably not, that would require thinking, like "if i slap a big house on a piece of virgin desert, am i ready to deal with all the wildlife i just displaced?" but that's probably asking too much. nice crote all the same.

Thanks Brandi and Rich. About 10 minutes later when we stopped to eat those clouds turned orange and red. Wished I had stayed out there a bit longer.

Great pictures....Nice Snake, Nice Scenery....Looks like a place I could call home. How are the IT jobs out there? I just might have to start pressing my wife a little harder to move out of this freekin state. Six months of miserable weather out of the year just isn't worth it anymore.

i claim temporary insanity for the three years i left this beautiful state to live in PA. it was pretty in its way, but nothing on the West. IT is like it is anywhere else... tough. but phoenix economy isn't doing too bad, at least compared to the east coast. hope you make it out here soon hun!

I was in Minnesota for just over 3 years myself. I left AZ 10 years to the day I arrived. Minnesota's Iron Range is where I was living, and very gorgeous place to be. Not very many reptiles, but still great nonetheless. I remember catching turtles while fishing (you trade fishing for herping there, and dont tell me catching Walleye and Musky is not fun stuff!). Poor lil' guys...lol. Even a common snapper is a very cool animal to witness. I had many a day catching Thamnophis and many species of frogs. They have Grey Tree frogs, :D which are some of my favorites...just cool lil' things.
I am glad I am back in AZ for the most part. I truly love this state. With the several ssp of crotes and other species...no wonder I call it home.

Thanks Brandi, Looks like I may have a harder time talking my wife into moving to AZ than getting a job. Mentioned it to her last night and received a most definate: NO! We have a little different taste when it comes to climate, herps, and insects. I love everything and she is scared of everything. Ha, ha. Guess I'll settle for a week or two visit to my sisters every once in a while. Happy Hunting!
