I have just arrived in Phoenix this evening (from Houston) and will be here thru Thursday evening, and was wondering if anyone in the area was interested in some late afternoon collecting. I'll be working 'til 4:30 most afternoons, but was hoping to get a chance to check out some of the local herps.

I was a member of the East Texas Herp Society for many years, but due to transfers to frigid environments (Alaska has no herps and Southern Argentina has very few), I have not been collecting for several years.

If anyone is interested in going out evenings this week, please reply and we can set something up.

Regards,

Keith

welcome to Phoenix! might help if we knew what part of town you were staying in, this city covers a lot of ground.

Also, make sure you've got your license before you do any collecting-- since the herps are becomming more active, so are the Wildlife Managers!

Good luck and happy herpin!

I'm staying near the airport. Was not aware that a license was necessary. I'm not opposed to catch and release myself, but if someone anyone with me has a license, possibly that would suffice if they would want to keep what we catch.

Thanks for the reply.

usually it depends on what officer you are dealing with, i've heard some officers reason that hey, you need a license to hunt for dove, even if you don't shoot any, therefore you should have a license to hunt for snakes, even if you don't collect any. its a stretch, but i figure its worth the $25 just to CYA. again, good luck!

The only thing is, it's not $25 for non residents

2004 Non Resident General Hunt $113.50
2004 Non-Resident 3-Day Hunt $51.50

combination hunting/fishing license is only (??!!) $44.00. BTW, if you catch a frog, toad, salamander or a soft shell turtle, you had best have a fishing license.
