a few feet away. Most of this stuff was a first for me as I had nver hunted in California before. Also besides lots of Utas and Crevice Spinies were a Granite Night Lizard and a Slender Salamander. My partner found a nice male rosy boa which I didn't get any pics of as I misplaced my memory cards and was sving what few pics I had left for more rattlesnakes.

that the helleri (Southern Pacific Rattlesnakes), are sexualy dimorphic just like our Az. Black Rattlesnakes. The males are much more vividly patterned and brighter colored than the females.

where you are. That happens to be the case in cismontane San Diego County where you were but not the case in much of LA county and other areas where helleri is found.

Some great shots of some gorgeous crotes! I can hardly wait myself for some of the cerbs to be pulling out soon. Really enjoy the helleri pics, great beauties there.
Still waiting as well to see some of your cerberus work this summer. I already know it is gonna be a blast to see em'.

I still have my work cut out for me in California, lol. Still have many different populations and color patterns of helleri I'd like to photo not to mention all the variations in oreganus and the two subspecies of mitchelli found there.
Thanks for the kind words Beau. There probably won't be many cerb pics this summer. I'm sure I won't be able to resist visiting a few sites now and then but for the most part I plan on spending my free day each week getting to know abyssus, one high elvation population (6500ft+) in particular. It's going to take a while. They don't seem to be nearly as sociable as cerbs. I'm expecting to put in a lot of footwork with very little to show for it.:-)

If you would like another set of eyes on one of your trips north let me know. I will be spending some of my time off in the north country looking for infralabialis and the rest down south looking for ringnecks, lyres, night snakes, and corals.
