Hey yall, any good ideas on where to find black-headed snakes? and how far do the ranges for atriceps and hobartsmithi overlap? I'm making them my target spp for next season!

T. hobartsmithi are usually found in and above Sonoran Upland habitat (above the creosote flats) in canyons and drainages within mountains, foothills, and bajadas. Try looking under large flat rocks on the slopes near washes and rivers in areas like the Superstition Mountains, Harquahalas, Harcuvars. Early spring is a good time to lift & replace rocks for Tantilla. You can also find them on roads that go through suitable habitat on warm nights.
T. atriceps is no longer considered a different species than T. hobartsmithi.
