This guy had reddish cast color on its tail. After this picture he turned around and went back into the bucket. Would not come out.

After being slid out of the bucket, he was not a happy camper...

Very pretty! I've not seen that kind of coloration on a wc atrox before.

Thanks Brandi. Use to get a pink cast to them that came from east of Wickenburg. I always thought it was from the color of the rocks in that area.

in Central AZ. most of the ones (adults) I have seen from South Mtn and other areas in Central AZ have a faded pattern toward the tail and the pink color. The neonates, strangely enough, have a bold pattern right down to the tail.

Sandy Anderson, down at the Gray Hawk Ranch in Sierra Vista, has a big male WDB named Rusty. He's an easy six foot snake and his entire base color is a salmon pink/orange. He's also about as thick as my fore arm. I'm not sure where she got it, but she's had it for awhile. It was even crossed with a Blacktail a few years back(by mistake). The mother was an extremely dark green from near the border. Needless to say there were some interesting looking neonates out of that bunch. I don't even know what she did with them, but I bet someone out there knows or has one.

... why and how do you cloth-line a bucket?

Answer:

Why: to reduce glare when your trying to take photographs of snakes in the bucket. The white walls of the bucket reflect light from the flash and wash out your photos.

How: get some indoor/outdoor carpet (the nice looking green astro turf) and some good adhesive, cut to fit and glue away.

thanks arandani... you can use AOL Buddy icons... they are the perfect size and there are tons premade out there. I got this one off Badassbuddy.com hoping to get the pic of my vinesnake up instead, but it just looks crappy when i resize it.
