I was wondering what species of rattlers are usally found durning the winter months in arizona? I have been coming down to the phoenix/tucson area for almost 10 years during my spring break and herping but this is the first year that I am living down here. In all that time I have only found westerns out and about from jan.-april. Do people find much else, like sidwinders and mohaves as well ?

WDB's on rocky outcroppings during sunny winter days.

...I have seen snakes in the desert in all months except February. Mostly WDBs out for a sunbath, and during the colder months it was scarce to see any species in general. I never went out of my way to see any during the colder months, but merely by accident while laboring outside to earn a buck.

I've seen a couple WDB's near the entrances to mine shafts at two different locations, but only on warm days, and by chance.
