Im starting to like the different Gopher snakes and morphs, ive recently found on the net. Lavendar colored, albinos, hypos, patternless, striped. Some of my collection includes Albino, Hypo Melanistic, Great Basin, Sonoran, Pacific NW. I find the majority of them to be pleasant tempered, and wonderful for people to hold, to overcome their fear of snakes. heres a couple pictures of some of mine, and a few from this year. Excuse the poor quality pictures.

3. Young,Arizona this year. This one has some nice lavendar color near the head, not very visible in the picture. Unfortunately it was run over by the car infront of me, and i had to finish it off.

You say that last one is from down south. How far down south? No locations of course, but are we talking south of the border.

Love that last Pit! It is a shame that a lot of Arizona resident herpers take our pits for granted. They are beautiful snakes.

The animal that Rich posted is from south of the border. To be a little more exact....Mexico.

Is it an oddball specimen or is there a similar looking population of them down there?

or Mexican Bull Snake (Pituophis deppei deppei) from the Sierra Tarahumara in southern Chihuahua. They are extremely variable throughout their range in Mexico, and even a bit within a local population. Babies hatch about as butt ugly as a Pit could be then slowly transform into beautiful adults. The specimen in the pic is about five feet in length.
