with my own eyes.
I received a call last night for a snake pickup and called the person back. His description was,"red and white blotches." Thinking Longnose, I asked if there were any black on the snake and the reply was, "No, just red and white." Being intrigued by the man's insistence on the colors, I asked if it had rattles and he said no. So, I took the 20-minute trip out to Ahwatukee Foothills and found ...... (suspense building device)......... a hatchling ALBINO Gopher Snake.
The home is in a cul-de-sac with only a few neighbors and none of them own snakes of any kind. In all my years of herping, this is the very first time I have come across an albino in the wild, albeit on a patio in Ahwatukee.
I will try to remember to bring it to the meeting for your viewing pleasure.
