Has anyone breed or had a gravid female drop babies in captivity ? I have a female tiger, I think I haven't probed it yet. But would be interested in tring to breed them and would like to get information from someone who has. Thanks
Alot of people have tried, and from what i understand most fail. They supposedly are tricky to breed. And alot of people that claim to have bred in captivity actually picked up a gravid female. Theres someone out here that has been sucessful with them. From what i understand everything has to be perfect. the timing, temps, etc. Female tigers seem to be more difficult to find, out of about 20 or so that ive seen this year, ive only seen 2 females.

Did you breed them at your house or was it a gravid female that was collected? And any chance that you are going to be gifting them out? I would love to get one if that would be possible. Thanks

After talking to a friend, I would tend to think that this was a female that was probably retaining sperm from the previous year even though I did have her caged with my yellow male. The mother was actually a slate blue color and all the babies were very yellow/green like the male I have but that may just be a coincidence. It would be nice to think she bred in captivity but I am doubtful.
The babies have already been gifted. These guys were born about 2 months ago already.
no one has been successful in breeding them in captivity. That is why this year I kept all documentation on mine.

Did you keep records on temps and feedings with the female that gave birth? I would be interested in see what you kept them at and how often they were feeding. My will eat once a week for two weeks and then stop for a week to a week and a half and start up again. But it took to pet store mice faster then anything else so far. Her is a picture of it.

other forum last year, nobody said it hadn't been done. The only question was whether your babies were the result of your snakes breeding in captivity or if they were from a female that you caught gravid, as captive reproduction of tigris is considered uncommon. I know the Kentucky Reptile Zoo has had at least two successful captive breedings, the Staten Island Zoo at least one, and Jim Kane in Tucson has been successful. There have also been a few european breeders who have had success.

Here's my future goal. To breed her.

What area did you find her? Please don't think that I am asking for the mountain that you found her on, I am just wondering if you are finding them in phoenix, or is she from the tucson area. Mine is from the tucson area. I found one other that I could not safely get and it to was a red/pink color. Area the blue/grey ones found farther north?
but recieved no response. I believe the just of the threads on the other forum was private collectors who breed tigris and the origin of the neonates that I had. Since crots can hold seman for a year or more, the possibility of wild/natural copulation was there. This year I have actually documented breeding times, temperature and humidity. There was a lot of folks who have tried but have had no success. My German friends are also trying to breed tigris but no luck as of yet.
From the looks of your pictured tigris, it looks like a male. There is barely a taper to the tail (vent to rattle) and the tail lenght looks long.

FSH,
I will PM you with a little bit of info on that snake. It's good to keep locality info to a bare minimum on any forum for obvious reasons. If you have locality specific info to share or questions that you need answered it's best to do it through PM if you want an answer.
