Here's a not so upclose shot of a nice rocky cliff. How many animals can you see and what are they?

Anyone else care to take a guess before I post the answer. BTW no one has been correct yet.

Frogbert....you see 3 what?

Rich....no ants count in this game. But all the animals don't have to be reptiles. LOL hint hint.

Well there is that figure that could be a mountain lion but I figured it was a fluke or a very active imagination. And my third chuck could really just be anothe rock because all I see is what could be a head. LOL

So, it's either two chucks and a mountain lion or two chucks and a head and a mountain lion? hehehe

Your getting closer Donna. I will post the answer when I get home tonight so I can add some photos for clairification. The isn't however, a lion in that photo. At least I never saw it.

I'll say two chucks and a rock squirrel peeking over the top.

Dang it Rich!!! Why can't you ever be wrong. Nice eye. The male chuck is the one up top and his little woman was staged below where he can keep an eye on her. Little did he know he was being eyeballed by that varmit above.

Didn't figure it was, other wise it would have been looking at you, they aren't oblivious to what is going on around them.

Nice photo Donna. I've only lived in AZ for 3 years and have run into just about everything but a lion. I always keep my eye out for them when I am hiking but I guess the remain pretty cryptic unless they want to be seen.

I cheated though, that was taken during a special behind the scenes tour of the Cincinati Zoo. Using a really nice 35mm Minolta.

I did see a mountain lion one day on the way up to the towers on top of South Mountain. Had I been alone I would have sworn I was seeing things and kept on going, however my kids convinced me to stop and get a closer look. I hike the south side of the preserve on a regular basis and have never seen him/her there.

I have hiked that mountain regularly for the last 3 years and have heard several rumors of a big cat being spotted from time to time. There is plenty of cover and enough food to support one or two up there. How long ago did you spot it? Was it out in the open when you were driving up or were you off on a trail?

Here are those chucks a little closer.
This is the male.

Right before you hit the top the road makes a complete U and there is a semi steep hill on your right. It was walking through there. We stopped and walked into that area and watched it lumber off, turning around to watch us every now and then.

This was about 4 years ago, some of the hikers I have run into receintly have said they have seen it on the south east side of the towers, down near the water? tank the is up above Equestrian Estates.

I'm always walking with a dog or two so I'm likely not going to see it anytime soon

That really cool Donna.

Ken,

It's a Sony. My 3rd digital camera in 3 years. I can't resist new technology.

"C'mon Dad! Let's go see one!"

You must get occational mountain lion wandering around the hills in your area Terry. From the looks of those big horn sheep out there, the lions have a good source of food.
