It's not an easy task by any means but it has been done. The problem is that you won't find very much documentation. I recall someone telling me that one or two zoo's had bred them successfully but it wasn't easy.

I'm sure someone like Rich G might be better able to cite a specific reference.

Hey! First time I have been able to post here in a couple years! After the format was changed I would try to log in but was always told that my name and password were already being used by someone else. LOL!

Anyway, to answer you question viridix, I know the Kentucky Reptile zoo has had two successful captive breedings and I believe the Staten Island zoo was recently successful. I also heard that Jim Kane in Tucson had success with tigris a couple years ago. Probably the toughest U.S. form to breed. Probably the only crote species that could be condidered tougher would be transversus (simply because nobody has ever been able to keep them alive period) or lanommi for obvious reasons. :-)

Thanks for the info. If you know of any good books, sites, or other places or people to ask, let me know. This is one of the first species I want to breed.
